ZRP Appeals for Information After Reckless Driving Incident Involving Toyota Wish Goes Viral

ZRP Appeals for Information After Reckless Driving Incident Involving Toyota Wish Goes Viral – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched an appeal for information that may lead to the identification and arrest of the driver of a Toyota Wish vehicle following a reckless driving incident that has gone viral on social media platforms.

The incident involves an alleged mushika shika driver who was captured on video engaging in a heated confrontation with a cyclist after nearly colliding with him on a public road.

The vehicle was reportedly carrying passengers at the time of the incident.

“The ZRP is appealing for information which may lead to the identity and subsequent arrest of the driver of the Toyota Wish vehicle in connection with the incident which went viral on social media platforms,” the police said.

According to the footage, the cyclist confronts the driver over what he describes as dangerous and reckless driving, questioning why the motorist almost crashed into him.

In response, the driver is heard making alarming and sarcastic remarks.

“I wanted to k!ll you,” the driver is heard saying.

A visibly sh]cked cyclist responds: “You want to k!ll me?”

“Yes,” the driver replies, before adding dismissively: “That’s good.”

The exchange continues as the driver tells the cyclist that he should not be riding on the same road as motor vehicles, insisting that the road is not meant for bicycles.

“Drive away from the road,” the driver says, to which the cyclist responds, “In a sandy road?”

“Yes, just please,” the driver replies.

The cyclist further questions the logic of the driver’s argument, asking sarcastically whether there is a designated “cycling bus” or lane, to which the driver responds mockingly, “Yes, no cycling bus is here in Spain,” despite the incident having occurred in Zimbabwe.

The confrontation ends with the driver repeating the disturbing statement, “I wanted to k!ll you,” before abruptly driving off, telling the cyclist to “have a good day” and adding, “Nothing more to say.”

Police have condemned reckless driving and threatening behaviour on public roads, warning that such conduct endangers lives and will not be tolerated.

Anyone with information that may assist investigations is urged to contact the National Complaints Desk on (0242) 703631 or via WhatsApp on 0712 800 197.
