ZNSPCA Offers $1,000 Reward for Man Behind Puppy Killing Ritual Caught on Video

A chilling video showing a man mutilating and killing a puppy in a blood-soaked ritual has sparked national outrage, prompting the Zimbabwe National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ZNSPCA) to launch a manhunt and offer a US$1,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

The disturbing footage, widely circulated on social media, captures the man committing the brutal act while others watch and participate.

The group is seen using the puppy’s blood in what they claim is a “healing” ceremony — a scene that has horrified viewers and animal welfare advocates across the country.

In response to the public outcry, the ZNSPCA issued a strongly worded statement condemning the act and appealing for assistance in identifying the individuals involved.

“The Zimbabwe National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ZNSPCA) is appealing to the general public to help with the identification and location of an individual depicted in a disturbing video where he is seen brutally mutilating and killing a puppy as part of a so-called ritual.

“The video further shows this person, together with others, using the blood of the slain animal in what they claim to be a ‘healing’ ceremony.

A reward of US$1,000 is being offered,” the organisation said.

The ZNSPCA, which is the national authority responsible for enforcing animal welfare laws, described the act as “barbaric” and vowed to pursue justice using every legal and investigative tool available.

“As the national authority responsible for enforcing animal welfare law, ZNSPCA is outraged and horrified by this barbaric act of cruelty.

“We are committed to using every legal and investigative means available to ensure that this individual and any accomplices are identified, arrested, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” the statement read.

According to the Chronicle, the video has triggered a flood of emotional reactions and formal complaints from the public, with many Zimbabweans calling for swift arrests and tougher penalties for animal cruelty.

The ZNSPCA has since intensified its investigations and is urging anyone with credible information to come forward.

Members of the public with credible information are urged to assist the investigation by contacting the ZNSPCA through its Toll-Free Hotline on 0800 4370, the 24-Hour Emergency Line at +263 772 696 311, or reaching out to Senior Inspector Delta Chitakunye on +263 78 797 5900 under the Investigations and Prosecutions unit.

Alternatively, individuals may report directly to the nearest Zimbabwe Republic Police Station.

The ZNSPCA emphasized that community cooperation is critical in ensuring justice is served and that such acts of cruelty are never repeated.

The organisation continues to call on all citizens to stand against animal abuse and uphold the values of compassion, accountability, and the protection of all living beings.
