ZINWA Promises to Investigate High Water Bills in Esigodini

The Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) has committed to addressing significant complaints from residents of Esigodini Habane in Umzingwane District regarding exorbitant water bills.

Residents have reported being charged for water that they claim they did not receive, raising concerns about billing practices in the area.

Many residents have expressed their frustration over the high costs, with some receiving bills that appear unjustified based on the limited water supply.

One affected individual reported a staggering bill of US$491 for December 2025, despite water only being delivered on eight occasions that month.

In response, ZINWA issued a statement affirming its commitment to transparency and fairness in addressing the concerns raised by the community.

The authority is urging residents to formally submit their complaints in writing, including essential details such as meter readings and physical addresses.

“The Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) acknowledges receipt of concerns and queries from the residents of Esigodini regarding their bills and other service-related matters,” the statement read.

“The Authority reaffirms its commitment and readiness to address concerns being raised by residents in a transparent, fair, and objective manner.”

ZINWA has set up a process for submitting complaints, indicating that queries can be delivered either at the Esigodini Water Supply office or at payment offices, where a register of all inquiries will be maintained.

The authority assures residents that all formally lodged complaints will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

“We will communicate decisions in line with the ZINWA service delivery standards,” the statement continued.

“The Authority wishes to assure those affected that ALL formally lodged queries and complaints will receive due consideration and attention.”

ZINWA reiterated its commitment to ensuring a sustainable water supply for Esigodini while thanking residents and stakeholders for their ongoing support as they work towards resolving these issues.
