ZIMSEC Reports Successful 2024 Examinations with No Leaks

The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) announced that it conducted the 2024 Grade 7, Ordinary, and Advanced Level examinations without any incidents of exam paper leaks.

This marks a significant improvement compared to previous years, which suffered from cheating scandals and security breaches.

ZIMSEC’s Public Relations Manager, Nicolette Dlamini Moyo, credited the success of this year’s examinations to enhanced collaboration. She emphasized the significance of improved security measures. Additionally, she pointed out that increased awareness among stakeholders was a key factor.

She expressed particular gratitude to the National Association of Primary School Heads (NAPH) for its critical role in enforcing strict security protocols. She also acknowledged the important contributions of the National Association of Secondary School Heads (NASH).

Dlamini Moyo stated, “We are now halfway through the 2024 Ordinary and Advanced Level exams, and we have not received any reports of unauthorized access to exam questions.”

“ZIMSEC has worked diligently over the years to safeguard the integrity of our examinations, with support from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, the police, and state security agencies.”

Arthur Maphosa, President of NASH, commended ZIMSEC for its improved security measures, noting that these efforts have successfully eliminated exam leaks this year.

He highlighted that, unlike in previous years—when leaks undermined the credibility of assessments—critical subjects like English and Mathematics were administered without any incidents.

Maphosa acknowledged the collaborative efforts between schools and ZIMSEC in maintaining the integrity of the examination process. He also praised all examination centers for their hard work in ensuring a secure environment for students.

With a renewed focus on security and integrity, ZIMSEC hopes to continue building trust in the examination system, ensuring fair and reliable assessments for all candidates.
