Zimbos Vent Frustration: Slam ZBC for Poor Content, Refuse to Pay Licenses

Zimbabweans are up in arms, scolding the national broadcaster ZBC for airing Wicknell Chivhayo’s roora day celebrations, arguing that such content is better suited for smaller media outlets like HMetro tabloids.

This outrage comes on the heels of a scandal where ZBC was involved in forcing motorists to pay for licenses, leaving many to question the value of paying for the broadcaster’s services.

Commenters took to social media to express their discontent, with @mmatigari stating that “ZBC is in a downward spiral and should leave ‘nonsense’ reporting to HMetro.”

@zandatoto echoed similar sentiments, criticizing the timing of the broadcast, “just two days after the government passed a law forcing motorists to pay for licenses.”

@joecharex went as far as saying “motorists should refuse to pay for ZBC radio licenses, given the poor content they produce.”

The controversy has sparked a wider debate about the role of national broadcasters and the quality of content they produce.

As @mrdamba pointed out, “the reluctance of people to pay for licenses is a direct result of the broadcaster’s failure to provide value to its audience. The chant “asingade ngaabude muZimbabwe” has become a rallying cry for those seeking better services from the national broadcaster.
