Zimbabwe’s Tinashe Miller Kamangirira Clinches 400m Hurdles Title at Drake Relays – Tinashe Miller Kamangirira delivered a standout performance at the 115th Drake Relays in Des Moines on Saturday, winning the women’s 400m hurdles with a time of 56.07 seconds.

She narrowly edged out Tia-Adana Belle, who followed closely behind at 56.09 seconds in a thrilling finish.

Despite being born and raised in the United States, Kamangirira has remained deeply connected to her Zimbabwean roots.

Born in Moscow, Idaho, the 27-year-old sprinter was nurtured in a strong athletic environment, attending top junior schools and universities in the US.

Yet, her allegiance to Zimbabwe remains unwavering.

Kamangirira made history in 2022 as the first US-born athlete to represent Zimbabwe on the international stage.

She marked her debut with a fifth-place finish in the women’s 100m hurdles final at the African Athletics Championships in Saint Pierre, Mauritius.

Her connection to Zimbabwe runs deep through her father, Felix Kamaringira, a former national team sprinter who excelled in the 200m and 400m events during the 1990s.

Her mother, Jan Miller, an American who also competed in athletics at the University of Idaho, met Felix while he was on an athletic scholarship there.

Kamangirira’s continued rise in the athletics world not only showcases her talent but also highlights her commitment to honoring her heritage on the track.
