Zimbos Saying "I Do" … Then "I Don't" Faster Than Ever!

Zimbabwe’s Divorce Rate Soars in 2024
Zimbabwe saw a heartbreaking surge in divorce cases in 2024, with 3,214 filings—way up from 2,149 in 2023. Sadly, only 1,562 of these have been finalized, meaning both love and court dockets are in crisis mode.
Harare leads the heartbreak rankings, with 1,945 cases filed and 996 finalized, followed by Bulawayo with 825 cases and 383 completions. Other cities, like Masvingo, Mutare, and Chinhoyi, recorded lower but still concerning numbers.
Experts blame infidelity, social media misuse, communication breakdowns, financial stress, and even lingering grudges for the spike. Bishop Rocky Moyo, president of the Council of Churches in Africa, summed it up best: “These numbers aren’t just statistics—they’re shattered dreams.”
His advice? More prayer, less pettiness. And maybe think twice before saying “Till death do us part”—because for many, it’s looking more like “Till Wi-Fi do us part.”
