Botswana social commentator Setlhomo Raymond Tshwanelang confirmed the arrest, writing:

“The gentleman Vecco Lupa… was successfully arrested by the Botswana Police yesterday. Yes, the same Zimbabwean guy who had Vee as his brand ambassador. Thank you Botswana Police Service!”

He added:

“We pretended we wanted to pay for his services and he came running back. Police nabbed him on the spot.”

Victims across Zimbabwe and Botswana have come forward, including one Zimbabwean who wrote:

“I was scammed out of US$2,680 by a person who goes by the name Vecco Lupah… My permit even had an incorrect expiry date written as 31/02/2026. At the Serbian Embassy, I was informed that Serbia had not issued visas to Zimbabwean citizens for nearly two years.”

He added that Zhou has “scammed more than 30 people” and appealed for public awareness to prevent further victims.
