Zimbabwean Domestic Worker Arrested in Connection to Police Officer’s Murder

PRETORIA – A 59-year-old Zimbabwean domestic worker, Tendai Mafunya, was arrested in Pretoria after authorities found her with weapons and vehicles linked to the murder of a Gauteng Highway Patrol SAPS member.
Mafunya was taken into custody and is currently being held at Lyttleton police station.
The arrest resulted from a coordinated operation by CI Tshwane District, Gauteng Highway, Gauteng DPCI and Vision Tactical members.
Authorities had been tracking individuals linked to the crime, following a crucial lead to a residence in Centurion’s Ecopark Estate.
At the residence, police seized a stash of deadly weapons, including AK-47 rifle magazines, a 9mm pistol, and two-way radios, along with two cellphones and three vehicles: a silver-grey Kia Sorento with false registration, a blue BMW and a Polo GTI.
The discovery of these items marked a crucial turning point in the investigation.
According to authorities, the investigation began after police received tips about four potential suspects during a briefing.
As the investigation continued to unfold, Mafunya revealed a crucial detail about the property’s ownership, admitting that the property was owned by one of the suspects, Nkosinathi George Manuse.
With Mafunya’s arrest and admission, the case has taken a significant step forward, marking a major breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into the murder of the Gauteng Highway Patrol SAPS member.
