Zim Man Gets Life Sentence for Killing Girlfriend

...For Spending Lobola Money he Had Been Saving

Louis Serenetra Moyo, a 49-year-old Zimbabwean, has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his South African girlfriend, Thobile Grace Khoza.

The incident occurred on March 12, 2024, after Moyo learned that Khoza had spent R15,000 he had saved for her lobola, a traditional bride price.

Moyo, an undocumented immigrant working as a security guard, had been living with Khoza since 2020 and used her bank account for his savings.

In a fit of rage, he assaulted and fatally stabbed Khoza, leaving her to bleed to death. After locking the room, he fled the scene.

Khoza’s decomposed body was discovered three days later by her landlord, who noticed a foul smell. Moyo was arrested soon after, found with Khoza’s bank card, ID, and cell phone.

During his trial, Moyo pleaded guilty to premeditated murder, acknowledging his violent reaction was senseless.

Judge Dario Dosio condemned his actions and imposed a life sentence, along with an additional six-month term for his illegal status in South Africa.
