Zim Man Busted with Explosives Worth R600,000 at Beitbridge Border

BEITBRIDGE – In a daring operation, Limpopo police arrested a 48-year-old Zimbabwean man at the Beitbridge Port of Entry on Tuesday for alleged unlawful possession of explosives valued at over R600,000.

The suspect, who was driving a trailer truck from Zimbabwe to South Africa, was stopped by police at the border, where they discovered bags containing suspected explosives after forcibly opening the trailer.

As the investigation unfolded, a thorough search of the truck uncovered 16 reels of detonating fuse explosives, 2182 superpowers and 90 blasting cartridges explosives.

Furthermore, the suspect’s expected court appearance in the Musina Magistrate’s Court today will shed more light on the circumstances surrounding the arrest.
