Zim Embassy Pledges Full Support to Family of Slain Scientist in Scotland

The Zimbabwean Embassy in the United Kingdom has pledged to fully support the family of Dr. Fortune Faith Gomo, a Zimbabwean national who was fatally stabbed in Dundee, Scotland, on Saturday, 5 July 2025.

Dr. Gomo was attacked in full view of her 10-year-old daughter and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 20-year-old man, Kyler Rattray, has since been arrested in connection with the murder.

In a statement, the Embassy described Dr. Gomo as a respected Hydro Nation PhD scholar at the University of Dundee and an employee of Scottish Water.

“The Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe in the United Kingdom is deeply saddened to confirm the untimely passing of Dr. Fortune Faith Gomo,” read the statement.

“Dr. Gomo was a dedicated scholar, a beloved mother, and a rising expert in her field.”

The Embassy assured that it has dispatched officials to Dundee to engage with local authorities, provide support to Dr. Gomo’s daughter and immediate family, and assist with burial arrangements.

According to NewZimbabwe, the Embassy emphasized its commitment to ensuring that justice is pursued diligently and that Dr. Gomo’s family receives all necessary assistance during this difficult time.

“The Embassy is also in contact with media representatives and will provide verified updates in due course,” the statement added.
