ZIFA President Thanks Former Coach Nees After Departure

The president of the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA), Nqobile Magwizi, has thanked former Warriors coach Michael Nees following his exit from the national team.

Nees was let go on Wednesday after a series of poor results, even though he had successfully led Zimbabwe to qualify for the 2025 AFCON finals.

In a message posted on ZIFA’s Facebook page, Magwizi recognized the contributions Nees made during his time as coach.

He stated, “On behalf of the ZIFA Executive Committee, the Secretariat, the Warriors, our fans, and the people of Zimbabwe, we express our gratitude to Coach Nees for his commitment to the Warriors and his efforts during a challenging phase for our national team. We wish him every success as he embarks on new opportunities.”

Nees had been appointed head coach of the Warriors in July 2024 under a two-year contract.
