Zhombe man arrested for stoning fellow villager to death over assault allegations

ZHOMBE-A 20-year-old Zhombe man has been arrested for killing a fellow villager with a stone, after a dispute over his alleged assault on a local girl turned deadly.

Brighton Moyo allegedly killed Kholwani Sibanda (34) on November 8, 2024 at Mujikwa Village near Chapewa Business Centre.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest.

“The Zimbabwe Police have arrested Brighton Moyo (20) in connection with the murder of Kholwani Sibanda (34) which occurred on November 8, 2024 at Mujikwa Village near Chapewa Business Centre.

“The suspect struck the victim on the head with a farm brick following an argument reportedly sparked by accusations of the suspect’s assault on a local girl,” he said.
