ZANU-PF Secures Victory in Glen View South By-Election

ZANU-PF candidate Tsitsi Tawomhera has won the Glen View South by-election, securing the parliamentary seat after a closely watched contest.

The results were officially announced by Constituency Election Officer Killian Gambe following the completion of the ballot counting process.

The by-election, held on April 12, 2025, was conducted to fill the vacancy left after the passing of Grandmore Hakata, the previous legislator.

Tawomhera’s victory marks a significant moment for ZANU-PF, as the party aims to strengthen its presence in the constituency.

Her campaign focused on community development, service delivery, and inclusive representation, which resonated with voters seeking committed leadership.

Speaking after her victory, Tawomhera expressed gratitude to her supporters and emphasized her commitment to serving the constituency.

The election process was monitored by both local and international observers, with voting proceeding smoothly across 43 polling stations.

Observers noted that the election was conducted peacefully, with voting steadily taking place throughout the day despite low voter turnout.

The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) reported a transparent electoral process, with no major incidents recorded.

With the results now confirmed, Tawomhera is set to take office and begin addressing key issues affecting Glen View South residents.

Political analysts view the by-election as a barometer for shifting urban political dynamics as both parties gear up for the 2028 general elections.

Glen View South, historically an opposition stronghold, now reflects a changing political landscape.
