Woman and Children Gang-Raped in Harare

27-year-old woman from Borrowdale was attacked and gang-raped at gunpoint by three men on Saturday. Her two young children, a five-month-old baby and a two-year-old, are also believed to have been hurt during this terrible incident.
The woman had gone out to buy airtime, carrying her baby on her back and her toddler on her shoulders.
While they were on their way home, they ran into the men at a bridge near Pomona Quarry Stones.
The men tripped the woman, and then they took turns assaulting her. Unfortunately, the children were also attacked.
When the woman got home, she told her husband what happened, and they went to the police to report the crime.
Police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed that they are investigating the case.
He said, “We are looking into a rape incident involving a mother and her two children in Borrowdale.”
Inspector Chakanza explained that one of the attackers threatened the woman with a gun while the others assaulted her.
“One of the accused persons ordered the complainant to keep quiet and they lifted her together with her kids and laid them on the grass.
“One of the accused person pointed an unidentified pistol on the complainant’s forehead while the other accused person raped her without protection.
“The other suspects also raped her without protection and the minor children were suspected to have been raped as well,” he said.
After the attack, the men told her to get up and leave without looking back, and she did as they said. The attackers then disappeared into the night. The victims were taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for medical help.
The police are working to find the men responsible for this awful crime.
