Woman Accuses Husband of Demanding Sex Eight Times Daily
A woman from Harare has accused her husband of pressuring her to engage in sexual activity eight times a day, leading her to seek legal protection.
Melocia Gwata was granted a protection order against George Kusotera at the Harare Civil Court. In her testimony, she claimed that Kusotera physically abuses her when she declines his sexual advances.
Gwata told Magistrate Judith Taruvinga that her husband demands sex at all hours, and these excessive requests are taking a toll on her mental health, leaving her with difficulty sleeping.
“He wants to have sex every day and sometimes wakes me in the middle of the night, even after we’ve already been intimate multiple times,” Gwata stated.
“He insists on having sex eight times a night, and if I refuse, he assaults me. Initially, I complied with his requests, but I’m now exhausted and sometimes experience pain.”
She noted that his demands have intensified over time and that he has threatened to divorce her if she continues to turn him down. Gwata also revealed that Kusotera has assaulted her in front of their children, using obscenities and undermining her role as their mother.
Kusotera did not deny the allegations but attributed his behavior to his strong feelings for Gwata. “I apologize to my wife; I didn’t realize I was making her uncomfortable. It was wrong, and I am sorry,” he said.
“I love her deeply and want to maintain a loving relationship. I promise to stop the physical abuse and to be more considerate of her feelings.”
The court has granted Gwata a protection order, allowing her to seek safety from her husband’s alleged abusive behavior.
