Wiz Khalifa Sentenced to Nine Months in Romanian Prison for Smoking Cannabis on Stage

Wiz Khalifa Sentenced to Nine Months in Romanian Prison for Smoking Cannabis on Stage – American rapper Wiz Khalifa has been sentenced to nine months in prison by a Romanian court after being convicted of drug possession charges linked to a music festival performance in 2024.
According to the Associated Press, Khalifa — whose real name is Cameron Thomaz — was convicted of “possession of dangerous drugs for personal consumption without legal right.”
The case stems from a July 2024 incident at the Beach, Please! music festival in Costinesti, where prosecutors alleged that he was found in possession of more than 18 grams of cannabis.
In an earlier ruling, a lower court had fined the artist approximately US$830.
However, prosecutors appealed the decision, arguing that the penalty was too lenient, leading to the harsher sentence.

Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) said at the time:
“During a performance at a music festival, the accused was found to have possessed more than 18 grams of cannabis and to have consumed another quantity on stage.”
Khalifa later addressed the matter on social media, saying:
“I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania. The show was amazing, and the authorities were respectful.”
His representatives have not yet issued an official response to the sentencing.
