WiFi Betrayal? Man Dumps Girlfriend Over Mysterious Hotel Connection

CHINA – A couple’s vacation in Chongqing, China, took an unexpected turn when a man accused his girlfriend of infidelity after her phone automatically connected to the hotel’s WiFi, triggering suspicions of a past visit.

The misunderstanding escalated rapidly, leading to a dramatic breakup and even a televised investigation.

The incident unfolded when the couple attempted to check into the hotel. The woman, unable to locate her physical ID, tried to download a digital version.

During the process, both noticed that her phone had connected to the hotel’s WiFi.

Suspicious, her boyfriend questioned whether she had visited the hotel previously with someone else.

Despite her insistence that she had never been there, she was unable to explain the connection.

Jumping to conclusions, the man abruptly ended their relationship, convinced his girlfriend had been unfaithful.

Shocked and heartbroken, she turned to friends for support, who were equally baffled by his reasoning, according to The Indian Express.

Determined to clear her name, she launched an investigation into the mystery.

She soon discovered that another hotel in Chongqing where she previously worked—had the same WiFi name and password as the hotel in question.

Since her phone had stored these credentials, it connected automatically despite being in a different location.

In a final attempt to prove her innocence, she sought assistance from a local TV channel.

A reporter visited her former workplace and connected to the WiFi before heading to the hotel where the dispute occurred.

As expected, the reporter’s phone also connected automatically, confirming her explanation.

Despite proving her innocence, the woman stated that she had no interest in reconciling. “He didn’t trust me when it mattered.

“I won’t return to someone who makes accusations without proof,”
she reportedly told the media.
