Wicknell Chivayo Gifts Aleck Macheso New 2026 Toyota Fortuner & US$10,000 After Road Accident – Businessman and philanthropist Sir Wicknell Chivayo has gifted sungura music legend Aleck Macheso a brand-new 2026 Toyota Fortuner GD6 and US$10,000 following the musician’s recent road accident.
According to Chivayo, the vehicle has been fully paid for and registered in Macheso’s name.
He said the gift was meant to celebrate the musician’s miraculous escape from the accident, which he described as an act of divine protection.

Macheso was involved in a road accident last week while travelling in a luxury vehicle that had also been gifted to him by Chivayo.
The accident occurred near the Blue Ridge complex along Mutoko Road.
Fortunately, the sungura icon escaped the crash without injuries, although the circumstances surrounding the accident remain unclear.
In addition to the new Toyota Fortuner and the cash donation, Chivayo said the US$10,000 was specifically intended to cover Macheso’s medical check-ups, emphasising that the musician’s health and well-being were his priority.
Chivayo also extended his generosity to Macheso’s manager, who received a Toyota Aqua together with an additional US$2,000 in cash.
Macheso, who has enjoyed a distinguished career spanning decades, remains one of Zimbabwe’s most influential sungura artists, commanding a loyal fan base both locally and internationally.
