Whirlwind Blows Away Student’s Paper During Exam in Gokwe!

A whirlwind caused a significant disruption at Zhomba Secondary School in Gokwe North District last week, affecting over 30 students who were in the midst of their Combined Science Paper 1 for the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC).

The incident occurred when the strong winds swept into the classroom, carrying away the answer sheet of one candidate. Remarkably, the sheet was later discovered approximately 500 meters from the classroom.

Douglas Samunyaka, the Gokwe North District Schools Inspector, confirmed the event to The Mirror, stating that the affected student was seated near an open window, which contributed to the disruption.

“It’s true that wind blew away a student’s answer sheet during the exam,” Samunyaka said. “The student was seated near the window, which is why he was impacted, but it was nothing serious.”

Despite the incident, the student was able to continue with the exam after retrieving the answer sheet.

Authorities have highlighted that while the situation was unusual, it did not pose a significant threat to the overall examination process.
