Village Head in Trouble Over Affair with Married Woman

Herbert Musiyandaka, a village head in Chimanimani, is facing potential removal from his position due to allegations of misusing his authority and engaging in relationships with married women.

He has been accused of having an affair with Esther Mlambo, the wife of local resident Peter Mashava. This marks the second adultery scandal for Musiyandaka, raising concerns about his credibility as a traditional leader.

According to the Manica Post, Mashava brought the matter to Chief Saurombe’s community court last Sunday, revealing that he had to leave his home due to threats linked to Musiyandaka. The hearing was postponed to October 20 after Musiyandaka and Mlambo did not show up.

“I’ve received threatening messages from an unknown number that I would be killed if I continued pursuing this with the court. Villagers have told me he is involved with my wife,” Mashava said.

After discovering the alleged affair, Mashava sent Mlambo back to her parents, but Musiyandaka pressured him to allow her return. “He insisted I had no choice but to accept her back,” Mashava claimed.

Following Mlambo’s return, Mashava abandoned his home, and rumors intensified, with villagers claiming to see Musiyandaka frequently at Mashava’s homestead.

Mashava also alleged that after taking the matter to court, the threats escalated, warning him of severe consequences.

“This isn’t the first time Musiyandaka has faced such a scandal. His leadership is now being questioned, as trust in him has diminished,” said Chief Saurombe.
