UPDATE: Vecco Lupa Arrested in Botswana, Now Wanted for Fraud in South Africa
The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Gauteng has confirmed that Evans Sivechere, a popular Zimbabwean socialite and entrepreneur known as Vecco Lupa, is wanted for at least three fraud cases.
Sivechere was arrested last month by the Botswana Police in Gaborone on multiple fraud charges linked to an alleged international job scam. He had arrived in Botswana from South Africa when he was taken into custody.
Sivechere ran a business called Diamond Migration, operating from both South Africa and Botswana. His services included job placements and processing work permits for various European countries, such as Hungary and Ireland.
Many clients reported paying large amounts of money, only to discover later that the documents they received were fake or that no applications had been submitted.
After his arrest in Botswana attracted media attention, several victims from South Africa reached out to IOL, sharing their stories of financial loss and how they had filed reports with SAPS.
The victims expressed frustration, claiming that police seemed hesitant to take action against Sivechere.
IOL has contacted SAPS in different areas regarding the complaints made by these victims.
