Update: Madedido Arrested for Fraud in Chitungwiza, Transferred to Kadoma for Charges

Zimdancehall artist, known as Madedido and whose real name is Pride Fashu (23), has been arrested and is now facing fraud charges in Kadoma.

The arrest follows allegations made by promoter Pride Makazhu Chihoro, who claims that Madedido failed to perform at an event despite receiving payment.

Chihoro had booked Madedido for a family show at Rimuka Swimming Pool in October, paying a total of $450 in advance.

However, when it came time for the performance, Madedido did not show up, leaving Chihoro with several out-of-pocket expenses, including advertising and additional arrangements.

The complaint was filed with the police at Rimuka station. Chihoro and his team were initially motivated to act after the recent arrest of another artist, Maskiri, prompting them to seek help in locating Madedido.

Although police attempts to apprehend Madedido earlier in the week were unsuccessful, he was finally arrested as he was leaving his home to go about his daily activities, H-metro reports.

In his defense, Madedido had communicated that it would be best to receive the payment to purchase what was required for the show. However, he failed to provide promotional materials as requested.

Chihoro has expressed not only financial loss but also concern over damage to his reputation, stating that it will take time to recover.

As Madedido was moved to Kadoma, additional promoters from Kwekwe and Gweru, who have also had negative experiences with him, were reportedly preparing to file their own charges.
