Two Nigerian Co-Wives Hospitalised After Consuming Strong Herbal Concotion to Compete With Third Wife

Two Nigerian Co-Wives Hospitalised After Consuming Strong Herbal Concotion to Compete With Third Wife – A gynaecologist, Dr. Taiye Anifowose, has cautioned women against the use of unverified herbal aphrodisiacs, warning that such substances can damage internal organs and even affect reproductive health.
Her remarks follow a disturbing incident in Dakwa community, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where two co-wives were hospitalised after consuming a herbal mixture intended to s£xually arouse their husband.
The women, whose names were withheld, reportedly ingested a local aphrodisiac known as kayan mata, three days after their husband, Musa Muhammad, took a third wife from his hometown in Gusau, Zamfara State.

The herb, traditionally believed to enhance s£xual performance, was allegedly supplied by a female herbalist who, this time, gave them a powdered version of the concoction instead of the usual liquid form mixed with milk.
Muhammad recounted how he was alerted to the situation while staying overnight at the residence of his new bride. “I was called from my main house that the two women were seriously ill. I rushed there and found them writhing in pain,” he said.
Initially, a local nurse attempted to treat them with IV drips, but their condition didn’t improve. Muhammad then transported them to a clinic in Madalla, Niger State, where they underwent tests and emergency surgery.
The two women were hospitalised for nearly a week before being discharged on Monday.
According to Muhammad, efforts are now underway to track down the herbalist responsible for the concoction to prevent more women from falling victim.
