Two Arrested in Chikanga Murder Case
MUTARE – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) apprehended two suspects in connection with the brutal murder of Ryan Zindi in Chikanga, Mutare.
The suspects, Dylan Mudia (26) and Athell Mukondyo (23), were detained on March 14, 2025, following allegations of a violent assault.
According to a statement released on the ZRP’s official Twitter account, the suspects accused Zindi of stealing car keys and a cellphone.ln a fit of rage, they allegedly attacked him with a hoe handle, striking him repeatedly across his body.
When Zindi lost consciousness, the suspects transported him to the nearest police station.
He was later taken to Victoria Chitepo Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The ZRP has condemned the act of vigilante justice and urged citizens to report crimes to the authorities rather than taking matters into their own hands.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing and the suspects remain in police custody.
