Tsholotsho Villagers Get a Lifeline as Diasporans Chip in to Build Schools

TSHOLOTSHO – In a bid to address the acute shortage of learning facilities, Zimbabweans based in other countries have joined forces with Tsholotsho villagers to construct schools in the district.

This move aims to alleviate the struggles of learners who have to travel long distances daily, resulting in missed lessons and poor academic performance.

The proposed school, to be built at Zabagwadi, will initially cater to primary school students, with plans to add secondary school facilities in the future.

According to Ward 6 councillor, Busani Vundla, the community has faced significant challenges in accessing education due to the remote location of schools.

“The lack of nearby schools has been a major challenge for our community. We’ve had to rely on distant schools, which has resulted in fatigue among pupils and poor academic performance.”

The diaspora community has provided critical support for the project, offering financial assistance and expertise to bring the vision to life.

“We have pooled resources together as villagers, utilizing campfire proceeds and assistance from the diaspora community to make our dream a reality,” Vundla said.

The new school is expected to have a positive impact on the community, providing easier access to education and improving academic outcomes.

In addition to the new school project, the community has also been working to develop preschools, including building toilets and rehabilitating existing structures.

This initiative aims to provide a solid foundation for early childhood education, setting the stage for future academic success.

As the community comes together to build a brighter future for their children, it is clear that this project is not just about constructing schools, but about creating a better life for generations to come.
