Tshabangu Bounces Back After Health Scare

Sengezo Tshabangu, the secretary-general of Zimbabwe’s opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), is recovering after a sudden illness landed him in the ICU of a Swiss hospital. Tshabangu bounces back after health scare.
Tshabangu had arrived in Switzerland to attend the 149th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly when he was struck by severe stomach pains, suspected to be food poisoning, shortly after landing.
A source close to Tshabangu revealed that the illness was unexpected and critical enough to require intensive care, but thanks to swift medical attention, Tshabangu is now back on his feet.
“I’m good now,” he told The Standard, though he avoided further inquiries, referring them to his assistant, who confirmed his recovery and return to duties.
Tshabangu has been a controversial figure within the CCC, rising to prominence after declaring himself interim secretary-general, a move that has deepened internal rifts in the party.
His actions, including recalling party legislators, have sparked by-elections that benefitted the ruling Zanu-PF party, giving it a two-thirds majority in Parliament.
Critics, including CCC leader Nelson Chamisa, have accused Tshabangu of being a Zanu-PF proxy, claims Tshabangu denies as tensions within the CCC continue to escalate. Tshabangu Bounces Back After Health Scare
