Truck Driver Shot Dead by South African Passenger Near Beitbridge – A South African national, Johana Mabasa, has appeared in court facing a murder charge following the fatal shooting of truck driver Dave Mukanganwi near Bubi, outside Beitbridge.

Mukanganwi’s body was discovered in the early hours of 19 February with a gunshot wound to the head.
Mabasa appeared before Provincial Magistrate Gillian Padzakashamba during a special court sitting held at Beitbridge District Hospital.

He was under armed guard and is reportedly receiving medical treatment after sustaining injuries during the incident.Prosecutor Sichelesile Sibanda told the court that at around 2am on 19 February, the accused allegedly boarded Mukanganwi’s truck at Beitbridge, claiming he needed assistance to rescue another driver in Rutenga.

The State alleges that a confrontation later erupted inside the truck cabin, resulting in Mukanganwi being shot once.
