Transforming scrap into Art, Chebanga’s innovative creations

SOUTH AFRICA – Hendrick Chebanga, a self-taught Zimbabwean inventor has demonstrated remarkable ingenuity and determination by crafting a functional helicopter from scrap metal in his backyard workshop, defying convention and pushing the boundaries of innovation.

Chebanga’s fascination with small-scale mastery took root in childhood where he spent hours crafting intricate model cars. This early passion laid the groundwork for a thriving career and today Chebanga is celebrated for crafting exquisite scale models at his Hammanskraal workshop near Pretoria.

Chebanga reflects on his journey from childhood passion to successful career, citing the pivotal moment that sparked his creativity.

“My childhood hobby has become my livelihood. Growing up, I crafted model cars, now Iam proudly turning scrap metal into intricate scale models of cars, trucks, motorcycles and more.”

He also shares the inspiration behind his remarkable helicopter creation.

“I was inspired by a South African Army helicopter that flew over my neighborhood. That moment sparked my creativity and I made my own helicopter entirely from scrap metal,” Chebanga explained.
