Tragedy Strikes: 10 Killed in Devastating Bus and Truck Collision

A horrific accident occurred in the early hours of the morning between Riedersberg and Smithfield in the Free State, resulting in the loss of 10 lives.
The collision, which involved a bus and a truck, has left a trail of destruction and devastation in its wake.
The accident occurred around 3 a.m. when the bus, traveling from Joubek to Iduvutua in the Eastern Cape, collided with the truck, which was heading in the opposite direction towards Bloemfontein. The impact was severe, with both vehicles sustaining significant damage.
MEC for Community Safety, Jabun Balula, visited the Smithfield Hospital, where 22 patients, including the two truck drivers and the bus driver, were being treated for their injuries.
Balula conveyed his sincerest condolences to the families of the deceased and expressed concern for the well-being of those injured.
The police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. The majority of the injured passengers are being treated at the Smithfield Hospital, while those with critical injuries have been transferred to Pelinomi Hospital.
