Tory Lanez Hospitalized after Stabbed 14 Times in Prison

Tory Lanez Hospitalized after Stabbed 14 Times in Prison –  Canadian rapper Tory Lanez, who is currently serving a 10-year sentence in a California prison, was reportedly stabbed 14 times by a fellow inmate and rushed to hospital in critical condition.

The violent attack took place on Monday morning at around 7:20 AM in the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi, located about 120km north of Los Angeles.

Prison officials confirmed the incident to the BBC, stating that Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, suffered stab wounds to the back, torso, head, and face.

According to a statement posted on his official Instagram account, the 32-year-old rapper had both lungs collapsed during the assault and was temporarily placed on a breathing machine.

The post also stated, “Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through.”

Prison staff reportedly administered emergency first aid before transporting him to a nearby hospital.

While Lanez is now able to breathe without assistance, the motive behind the stabbing remains unclear, and an investigation has been launched.

Lanez was convicted in 2023 on three felony gun charges, including assault with a semi-automatic firearm, following the 2020 shooting of rapper Megan Thee Stallion.

The incident, which occurred after a party at Kylie Jenner’s Hollywood mansion, shook the global music industry.

Megan testified that Lanez shot at her feet while yelling “dance!” during an argument inside a vehicle.

She required surgery to remove bullet fragments from her foot.

Despite overwhelming evidence, Lanez refused to apologise and has maintained his innocence, a stance that sparked division in the hip-hop community.

Several artists, including 50 Cent and Iggy Azalea, publicly weighed in on the case, with some writing letters of support requesting leniency.

Before his conviction, Lanez had seven albums in the U.S. Top 10 and was working on a new prison project titled Peterson.
