Tika Chem Truck Ordered to Fix Damage at Harare’s Trabablas Interchange

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development has come down hard on Tika Chem Investments after one of its trucks caused significant damage at Harare’s newly built Trabablas Interchange.
In a statement, the ministry revealed that a Tika Chem truck carrying granite lost its load on July 8, resulting in smashed guard rails and a battered stretch of freshly laid pavement.
“The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development wishes to inform the public of an incident involving a truck owned by Tika Chem Investments (Pvt) Ltd of 551 Empowerment Way, Willowvale, Harare.
“On 8 July 2025, the truck, while transporting granite stone, was involved in an incident. The load fell, causing damage to the guard rails and the newly constructed pavement at the Trabablas Interchange,” read the statement.

The ministry further directed the company to repair the damage at its own cost, vowing not to release the truck until all repairs are completed and the vehicle passes strict safety inspections by the Vehicle Inspection Department (VID).
“Following the incident, the Vehicle Inspection Department impounded the truck for further investigations,” added the statement.
The truck will only be returned once it meets all safety requirements and the Trabablas Interchange is fully restored—a clear warning that recklessness on Zimbabwe’s roads will not be tolerated.
