Three Killed After Lightning Strikes Church Tent During Night Prayer in Limpopo

Three worshippers were killed when lightning struck a church tent during an overnight service in Radimana Village, Limpopo, early Sunday morning.

The congregation was gathered for night prayers when heavy rain and thunderstorms hit the area in the Senwabarwana region. While members sang inside a tent set up in an open field, a lightning strike suddenly hit the structure.

In total, eight people, aged between 12 and 56, from the nearby Sefihlampyana Village were injured. They were taken to a local healthcare center for emergency treatment.

Unfortunately, three of the injured—one man and two women—were pronounced dead upon arrival.

The deceased have been identified as Ribson Mothemane (46), Mosibudi Mokgobu (44), and Glenda Modjadji Ntjana (36). The other five injured individuals have been moved to a hospital for further care.

Limpopo Police and emergency services have launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities are urging community members to be cautious during this festive season as severe weather conditions continue. – MDN
