Three Inmates Charged with S0d0mizing 20-Year-Old Man

Three inmates from Bulawayo Prison appeared in front of Regional Magistrate Joseph Mabeza on Tuesday, facing charges of raping a fellow prisoner.
The accused—Bhekimpilo Sinyoro (30), Thabo Ncube (24), and Arnold Chemhere (29)—are alleged to have assaulted a 20-year-old inmate currently serving time at the facility. The victim reported the incident to police, stating that he was sexually assaulted during a power outage around 9 PM on December 29 of last year.
Prosecutor Dominic Moyo explained that the ordeal began when Sinyoro approached the victim, suggesting that they sleep closer together. When the victim refused, Sinyoro returned with Ncube, and the two forcibly dragged him to their sleeping area.
Once there, the victim was forced to lie on his side, while Chemhere allegedly covered his face with a blanket, restraining him. When the victim fought back, Sinyoro reportedly unbuttoned his shirt, and with the help of Ncube and Chemhere, removed his shorts before sodomizing him.
After the assault, when the victim managed to break free, the accused allegedly offered him rice and beans, seemingly to calm him down.
Ncube has a prior record for malicious damage to property and is due to complete his sentence on February 1, 2025. Chemhere has previous convictions for unlawful entry under aggravating circumstances, while Sinyoro had just finished a 30-day sentence for theft and was arrested as he left prison.
The three men remain in custody and are set to return to court on January 25 for their trial, represented by attorney Takunda Chipisa.
