Three Bodies Retrieved From Budiriro Sewer Pond as Mayor Orders Investigation – Three bodies have been recovered from a mud-filled excavation site in Budiriro, prompting Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume to order an immediate investigation into the tragic incident.
Rescue efforts began after reports emerged that a man had gone missing and was suspected to have fallen into the mud-filled excavation site.
Veteran diver Victor Kazembe, popularly known as “Coach Rambo”, was called in to assist with the search operation.
However, what started as a mission to locate one missing person quickly turned into a tragic recovery exercise.
Upon entering the muddy pond, Kazembe discovered not one, but three bodies submerged in the water and sludge.
Among the deceased was reportedly a young woman who had previously been reported missing, adding another layer of mystery to the disturbing incident.

The bodies were subsequently retrieved from the pond as stunned onlookers gathered at the scene. Authorities are yet to officially identify all the victims or establish how they ended up in the excavation site.
Mayor Mafume has since directed relevant departments and law enforcement agencies to conduct a full investigation to determine the cause of the deaths and whether any criminal activity may have been involved.
The discovery has raised serious concerns among residents, with many calling for improved safety measures around excavation sites and a swift explanation regarding the circumstances that led to the deaths.
Investigations are ongoing.
