Thief Sentenced to Two Years in Prison for Stealing Computer Hard Drives Containing Unrealeased Beyoncé Music From a Car

Kelvin Evans, 41, pleaded guilty last year in Atlanta, Georgia, to charges including entering a vehicle and criminal trespass.
In addition to the prison term, a judge ordered three years of probation.
Prosecutors say Evans broke into a Jeep Wagoneer rented by a Beyoncé choreographer and dancer on 8 July 2025, as the singer’s Cowboy Carter tour was heading to Atlanta.
The victims returned to find the car’s rear window smashed and their belongings missing, including the hard drives. Investigators have not recovered the stolen items.
Evans accepted a plea deal in court on Tuesday ahead of his trial, the Fulton County District Attorney’s office confirmed to the BBC.
At sentencing, Evans’s lawyer told the judge his client was “hoping for a future where he can make money legitimately and be part of society like the rest of us.”
Jury selection began on Monday, with prosecutors presenting surveillance footage showing Evans driving a red Hyundai into a parking garage and later arriving at an apartment building.
In the second video, Evans is seen carrying suitcases believed to belong to Beyoncé choreographer Christopher Grant and dancer Diandre Blue.
Grant and Blue told police the stolen items included two MacBook laptops, Apple headphones, luxury clothing and accessories, and hard drives investigators said held unreleased Beyoncé material. G
rant also reportedly said he was carrying “personal sensitive information” belonging to Beyoncé.
Prosecutors added that tracking technology on the laptops placed them at the apartment address captured in the footage.
As part of his sentence, Evans was also ordered to stay away from the victims and the car park where the theft occurred.
He has been in jail since his arrest in August last year.
The break-in occurred shortly before Beyoncé began the four-night Atlanta leg of her Cowboy Carter tour at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
