Thembisile Linda, mother of 18-year-old Banele Linda, seeks justice after her son was fatally stabbed on the night of August 24. Teen Stabbed to Death Over Street Argument
Banele had gone out with friends to a local spaza shop in Soweto to buy airtime when a deadly altercation unfolded.
Thembisile recounted how Banele and his friends encountered a stranger who accused them of blocking the road. A disagreement quickly escalated into a fight.
Outnumbered, the stranger called for backup, bringing in another man. Despite Banele’s repeated apologies on behalf of his friends, the second man refused to listen and stabbed Banele.
His friends rushed him to the hospital, but tragically, he didn’t survive the attack.
Heartbroken and furious, Thembisile wants justice for her son. She’s outraged that the accused man, now in custody, falsely claims Banele was a gangster.
“He’s lying in court, painting my son as a thug,” she said. Thembisile described her son as a peaceful and quiet teenager, focused on his studies in grade 11. “He always stood for what was right,” she added.
Gauteng police have arrested the 37-year-old suspect, and he appeared in court on August 27. A murder case has been opened at Protea Police Station. Teen Stabbed to Death Over Street Argument
