Teacher Arrested for Instructing a Minor to Touch his P€nis
SOUTH AFRICA- A 44-year-old teacher has been arrested in Makhado, Limpopo, after being accused of sexually assaulting two young children. The alleged incident happened on Saturday, November 16, according to Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, a police spokesperson.
The teacher appeared in the Makhado Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. His case was postponed until Friday for a bail hearing.
The situation came to light when the grandmother of the victims, who are aged seven and three, was told by a cousin that the children were found in the teacher’s house. Reports say the teacher was undressed and told the seven-year-old to touch his private parts.
After hearing this, the grandmother quickly contacted the police, who opened a sexual assault case. The investigation has been handed over to the Makhado family violence, child protection, and sexual offences (FCS) unit for further action. The teacher was arrested on Monday, and police are continuing their investigation.
In a separate case, a court in Dzanani, Vhembe District, recently sentenced 33-year-old Kehuliso Mafune to life in prison for raping a 17-year-old girl.
The court heard that on September 17, 2023, the victim and a male friend were walking home from church when they were approached by an armed man. During the struggle, the girl fell, and Mafune pulled her to a nearby street where he raped her.
These incidents highlight the serious problem of sexual violence in the area, and authorities are urging communities to stay alert and report any suspicious activities.
