Stunner cries in court

RAPPER Desmond “Stunner” Chideme broke down and sobbed in court as he was testifying in his defence in the matter he is being accused of assaulting his estranged wife Dyonne Tafirenyika.

Stunner got emotional, as he was being led in his testimony by his lawyer Dumisani Mthombeni, after the State closed its case.

He told the court Dyonne was falsely accusing him of assaulting her, just as many other women who were abusing the criminal justice system, to try and get back at their estranged partners.

“Dyonne has been really malicious in this matter and I’m at a point where I’m afraid to call her just to hear how our daughter is doing.

“I’m afraid she may come up with other false allegations that I have insulted her.

“These false allegations really have a weight on my career and my music, some of my endorsements have been suspended.

“But, at the same time, she’ll be sending me messages of what she and our daughter need, despite having messed up my source of income.

“I miss my daughter and I don’t have access to her, women in general, including my wife, are taking advantage of the law and are now abusing the criminal justice system.

“I never abused her but she’s using the law to abuse me, men are really suffering out there,” said Stunner.

Presiding magistrate, Evelyn Mashavirakure, was forced to briefly adjourn proceedings to allow the rapper to compose himself before continuing.

Mthombeni also led evidence from Donnel Dawson, as a defence witness.

He told the court he never witnessed Stunner assaulting Dyonne as alleged but they only had a misunderstanding.

Allegations are that on April 10 this year, at around 2am, the couple was at Rainbow Towers, where Stunner was performing, and they had booked a room to use for the night.

Dyonne allegedly went to the toilet and Stunner followed her and forcibly pulled her out of the ladies’ toilet.

He allegedly dragged her to the parking bay where he demanded her phone, an Iphone 13 Pro Max.

However, Dyonne refused to hand over the phone and hid it.

Stunner was provoked by this and allegedly assaulted Dyonne with fists till she fell down.

He allegedly removed her artificial nails forcefully and she started bleeding from her fingers and nose as well but no visible injuries were sustained.

Judgment day has been set for July 11.
