Stolen Botswana Woman’s Toyota Hilux GD-6 Recovered in Zimbabwe as Police Hunt Suspects

A stolen Toyota Hilux GD-6 bakkie has been recovered in Zimbabwe following a coordinated cross-border operation between the Botswana Police Service (BPS) and the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).
The vehicle, taken from a woman during a violent robbery in Matsiloje, is now part of an active investigation as authorities intensify efforts to track down the suspects.
BPS spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Near Bagali confirmed that three unidentified men ambushed the victim in Matsiloje village, forcefully stealing her Toyota Hilux GD-6, valued at over P590,000.
Intelligence suggested the stolen bakkie had crossed into Zimbabwe, prompting swift action from both security agencies.
Following intensive investigations, ZRP tracked the stolen vehicle to Figtree, Zimbabwe.
While the recovery is a major breakthrough, law enforcement remains in pursuit of the suspects, who are still at large.
Plans are already in motion to return the vehicle to Botswana.
Bagali praised the strong partnership between BPS and ZRP, stating that the case demonstrates effective cross-border collaboration in combating organized crime.
“We sincerely appreciate the Zimbabwe Republic Police for their unwavering dedication in fighting transnational crime,” he said.
