Matthew Bwazo, born on May 19, 1994, vanished from his family two weeks after his birth. For three decades, his parents, Sarah Zhou and Clever Bwazo, lived with the agony of not knowing what happened to their son. He was abducted by Simangaliso Rufu, who raised him as her own, renaming him Tinashe James Ncube.
Reports suggest that the family sought help from a Mwazha church prophet, who revealed that their missing child was living in Kadoma under a different name. DNA tests confirmed the boy was indeed their long-lost son.
Simangaliso, who abducted the child to deceive her husband into believing she could bear children, was arrested but later reached an out-of-court settlement with the Bwazo family. Matthew, now a married truck driver with four children, has rejoined his biological family after years of searching.
Clever Bwazo expressed his gratitude to God for the miraculous reunion, saying, “Mwari akapindira, mwana akadzoka.”
