Stage Worker Dies During Setup for Shakira’s Brazil Beach Concert

A stage worker died after being crushed while preparing for Shakira’s concert at Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro.

Emergency teams responded after the technician suffered serious leg injuries in a lifting system. He was taken to hospital, where he later died, organisers Bonus Track confirmed.

Witnesses said people suddenly started running when the structure collapsed. Some rushed to help after hearing a man was trapped underneath.

The free concert, set for May 2, is expected to attract over one million people. It follows Shakira’s Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, which broke records as the highest-grossing Latin tour.

Last year, she also cancelled a show in Medellín after a stage roof was damaged during setup, raising safety concerns.
