Sporting Lisbon Loan Portugal U20 Striker Rodrigo Ribeiro to Nottingham Forest. Sporting Lisbon striker Rodrigo Ribeiro has joined Nottingham Forest on a loan deal until the end of the season. The 18-year-old has made seven appearances for Sporting, six of them in Portugal’s Primeira Liga, without finding the net.

However, Ribeiro helped Sporting reach the semi-finals of the Uefa Youth League last season. The Portugal Under-20 international rose through the youth ranks at Sporting and made his senior debut against Manchester City in the Champions League in March 2022.

Ribeiro has scored 11 goals in 42 appearances for Sporting Lisbon’s B team in the third tier of Portuguese football. Forest has the option to make the loan a permanent move.

The teenager will take the number 37 shirt at the City Ground. Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo has made Ribeiro his second signing of the January transfer window after recruiting American midfielder Giovanni Reyna on loan from Borussia Dortmund.

Rodrigo Ribeiro, a youth product of Perspectiva em Jogo, Alfenense, and Sporting CP, recently signed his first professional contract with Sporting on 13 May 2021. The Portugal U20 international was handed his senior debut for Sporting on 8 March 2022 and made his professional debut against Manchester City in a 0-0 UEFA Champions League draw on 9 March 2022.

He came on as a late substitute in the 91st minute, showcasing his talent with a composed and confident playing style. Although Ribeiro has made seven appearances for Sporting, he is yet to register his name on the scoring sheet. However, he has impressed with his progress, including helping Sporting reach the semi-finals of the Uefa Youth League last season. His strong performances caught the attention of Nottingham Forest, who have signed the 18-year-old on loan for the rest of the season, with the option to make the move permanent. Ribeiro is expected to gain more experience and develop his talent under the guidance of Nuno Espirito Santo at Nottingham Forest.
