Sonja Madzikanda & Mother Appear in Court Following Arrest

Sonja Madzikanda & Mother Appear in Court Following Arrest – Sonja Madzikanda and her mother, Tabitha Madzikanda, arrived at the Harare Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning following their arrest after businessman Wicknell Chivayo filed criminal charges against them.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed in a brief statement that the two were taken into custody and were expected to appear before the court on Wednesday.
Tabitha Madzikanda is facing fraud allegations after she allegedly attempted to withdraw US$1.4 million from a trust fund belonging to Chivayo’s children.
It is alleged that she tried to remove Chivayo as a signatory to the trust account, with claims that the funds were intended for the purchase of land and the construction of cluster houses.
She is also facing charges linked to the alleged unauthorised distribution of content, as well as accusations of undermining the authority of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
In addition, investigators are reportedly examining allegations involving the use of AI-generated images which allegedly created the impression that Chivayo met South African President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier than he actually did.
Meanwhile, Sonja Madzikanda is accused of possibly violating a High Court order relating to access to the couple’s two minor children. She is also linked to allegations involving the unauthorised distribution of content and undermining the authority of the President.
The matter is expected to proceed before the courts as investigations continue.
