Six Injured as Machete-Wielding Gangs Target Entumbane Residents

BULAWAYO – Residents of Bulawayo’s Entumbane suburb are living in fear after a string of violent attacks along the railway line separating the area from Richmond left six individuals injured.
The incidents occurred on Thursday evening, around 5pm to 6 pm, with victims ambushed by attackers armed with machetes and an axe.
The assailants robbed people of personal belongings, including mobile phones and clothing, leaving some male victims stripped of their clothing.
Women were reportedly threatened but escaped physical harm.
Councillor Khalazani Ndlovu, who represents Ward 10, described the community’s state as “shaken and frightened” following the attacks.
“Residents were targeted randomly, with some coming from work, others from church and a few simply crossing to Richmond
The attackers even took people’s jackets and trousers,” she said.
The councillor added that the attackers are believed to be hiding in maize fields near the railway line, which leads to Saucerstown, a neighboring suburb.
“Many residents have fields in that area, but now they are scared to go there,” she added.
Ignite Media Zimbabwe reported that of the six victims, three have been discharged from Mpilo Central Hospital after treatment, while the others remain hospitalized.
Councillor Ndlovu plans to visit the injured to provide support and assess the situation.
