Sir Wicknell’s Latest Acts of Generosity: Reuben Barwe Gets Land Cruiser and $100K, DJ Rimo Surprised with Benz

Sir Wicknell’s Latest Acts of Generosity: Reuben Barwe Gets Land Cruiser and $100K, DJ Rimo Surprised with Benz – Controversial Zimbabwean businessman and philanthropist Sir Wicknell Chivayo continues to make headlines for his lavish giveaways.

This week, two high-profile figures—veteran journalist Reuben Barwe and celebrated DJ Rimo Jackson—found themselves on the receiving end of Chivayo’s extravagant generosity.

Veteran Broadcaster Reuben Barwe Honoured

Renowned ZBC journalist Reuben Barwe was rewarded with a brand-new 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser LX 300 Series and a whopping $100,000 in cash.

Sir Wicknell announced the gesture on Facebook, praising Barwe’s decades-long service to the national broadcaster and his unwavering patriotism.

“In recognition of the DECADES of your professional and loyal dedication to the NATIONAL BROADCASTER and in honour of your patriotism… a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to you Mr. Rueben Barwe,” Chivayo wrote.

Surprise Gift for DJ Rimo in South Africa

In a more low-key move, Sir Wicknell also surprised DJ Rimo Jackson—close friend of the late Genius ‘Ginimbi’ Kadungure—with a brand-new Mercedes-Benz. The South Africa-based DJ collected the car on 21 May from Vogue Auto Motors in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Unlike his usual flamboyant giveaways, this one was discreet.

Vogue Auto Motors posted a short video of the handover on Instagram, praising DJ Rimo’s charisma and describing Chivayo as “the gift that keeps on giving.”

Rimo’s Gratitude and Booking Fees

Shocked and humbled, Rimo expressed gratitude: “@sir_wicknell I can’t thank you enough… You are the biggest boss and I am extremely humbled.” He revealed that he initially didn’t believe the offer until he got the call from the dealership.

Earlier this year, DJ Rimo sparked buzz after revealing his hefty booking fees—charging up to US$5,000 for gigs outside Zimbabwe, US$3,000 outside Harare, and US$2,000 within the capital.
