Sikhala Arrested in Pretoria Over Alleged Possession of Explosives

Opposition politician Job Sikhala has been arrested by South African police in Pretoria after explosives were allegedly found in his vehicle, according to information shared by Jacob Ngarivhume.

Ngarivhume, who posted the details on his Facebook page, said Sikhala’s wife confirmed that he had attended a meeting on Thursday night when one of the hosts requested to check something in his car.

The individual reportedly took the car keys and returned about 30 minutes later, advising attendees to end the meeting as it was getting late.

Sikhala later drove off but was stopped by police, who conducted a search and allegedly discovered explosives in the vehicle.

He was subsequently taken into custody and is being held at a local police station in Pretoria.

Ngarivhume said lawyers from Zimbabwe have been dispatched to South Africa to assist, while South African legal representatives are already handling the matter.

He further claimed that the arrest points to “a coordinated effort by the regime” to target political opponents, although this allegation could not be independently verified at the time of publication.
