Shockwaves In Seke As Police Uncover Heinous Murders

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is conducting thorough investigations into two separate murder cases that have sent shockwaves through the Seke community.
Authorities have urged the public to come forward with any information that may assist in the inquiries.
In the first incident, police arrested Farai Machaka (48) in connection with the murder of his aunt, Ruth Elizabeth Kadara (67).
Her body was discovered on June 5, 2025, in her kitchen hut in Chounda Village, Seke.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Kadara was sexually assaulted before being strangled, and her cellphone—allegedly stolen by the suspect—has since been recovered.
Meanwhile, another tragic case unfolded in Besa Village, Dema, where the bodies of Ruth Ruvarashe Chidume (35) and her two children, Tatenda Precious Blessings Gumbo (4) and Ira Makanaikaishe Gumbo (2), were discovered on June 9, 2025.
Chidume was found hanging from a wooden beam, while her children had plastic coverings over their heads, secured below their necks.
ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi stated that comprehensive investigations are underway to uncover the full circumstances surrounding both cases.
He emphasized that law enforcement officers are working to establish the motive and the exact sequence of events that led to these crimes.
The police have urged anyone with useful information to report to the National Complaints Desk at 0242 703631, send a WhatsApp message to 0712800197, or visit the nearest police station.
