Shepherd Bushiri’s History of Unpaid Debts and Financial Deception Exposed

A former landlord of Shepherd Bushiri has come forward, revealing the fugitive preacher’s history of unpaid debts and financial deception.

The landlord, who wishes to remain anonymous, said Bushiri initially presented himself as a reliable and financially stable tenant when renting a luxurious property.

However, payments soon became irregular, leading to a significant accumulation of debt.

“He always paid on time in the beginning, and everything seemed above board. There was no reason to doubt his legitimacy,” the landlord stated.

Bushiri, who is currently operating his Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) ministry in Malawi is wanted in South Africa for various crimes, including fraud, money laundering and racketeering. He skipped bail in 2020 and fled to Malawi.

Creditors are now exploring legal avenues to recover their losses, including targeting Bushiri’s assets still located in South Africa.

The controversy surrounding Bushiri’s financial dealings has sparked calls for stricter regulations within high-profile religious organizations.

Critics argue that these organizations often lack transparency and accountability.
